Consumer Rights & Bespoke Goods Policy

LTE Studios (trading as Lifestyle Through Evolution)

 

1. Purpose of This Policy

This policy explains how UK consumer rights apply when commissioning bespoke design and made-to-order furniture from LTE Studios.

It exists to provide clarity on:

  • Statutory consumer rights

  • How bespoke goods are treated differently from off-the-shelf products

  • What can and cannot be cancelled, returned, or refunded

This policy should be read alongside our:

  • Terms & Conditions of Service

  • Compliance & Professional Standards

 

2. Your Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Under UK law, goods must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality

  • Fit for purpose

  • As described

Services must be carried out with:

  • Reasonable skill and care

These rights apply regardless of whether goods are bespoke or standard.

 

3. Bespoke & Made-to-Order Goods

Most furniture and fitted items supplied by LTE Studios are bespoke, meaning they are:

  • Designed specifically for you

  • Manufactured to agreed specifications

  • Not held in stock

  • Not resalable to another customer

Because of this, bespoke goods are treated differently under consumer law.

 

4. Cooling-Off Rights

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, consumers typically have a 14-day cooling-off period for distance or off-premises contracts.

However, this right does not apply once:

  • Bespoke manufacturing has begun, or

  • Goods are made to the client’s specifications

Once manufacturing is instructed following your approval, the contract becomes binding and deposits are non-refundable, except where required by law.

 

5. Cancellations Before Manufacture

If you cancel before bespoke manufacturing has been instructed:

  • Your deposit will be refunded in full

  • Any design work already completed may still be chargeable where agreed

Once manufacturing begins, cancellation rights change as outlined below.

 

6. Cancellations After Manufacture Has Begun

If you cancel after bespoke manufacturing has commenced:

  • Deposits are non-refundable

  • You are liable for costs already incurred

  • Goods cannot be returned or resold

This reflects the bespoke nature of the goods and complies with UK consumer law.

 

7. Faulty or Defective Goods

If goods supplied are faulty or defective:

  • Manufacturer warranties apply

  • LTE Studios will assist with warranty claims where appropriate

Where a fault is confirmed, remedies may include:

  • Repair

  • Replacement

  • Other remedies offered under manufacturer's warranty terms

Fair wear and tear, misuse, or unauthorised modification are not covered.

 

8. Design Acceptance & Responsibility

Before manufacture, you will be asked to formally approve:

  • Designs

  • Layouts

  • Specifications

Once approved:

  • Responsibility for accuracy transfers to the client

  • Changes may not be possible or may incur additional cost

We encourage careful review at all approval stages.

 

9. Services & Reasonable Skill and Care

LTE Studios provides services with reasonable skill and care, in line with industry standards.

This does not guarantee:

  • A particular aesthetic outcome

  • Increased property value

  • Exact material appearance

  • Performance beyond design intent

Design services are inherently subjective and bespoke.

 

10. Third-Party Installations & Trades

Where third-party installers or trades are involved:

  • They remain responsible for their own workmanship and compliance

  • LTE Studios is not responsible for installation errors unless caused by misinformation we provided

Any installation warranties are provided by the installer or supplier.

 

11. What This Policy Does Not Cover

This policy does not provide:

  • Automatic refunds for change of mind after manufacture

  • Returns on bespoke goods

  • Guarantees beyond those stated in writing

It also does not override:

  • Our Terms & Conditions of Service

  • Manufacturer warranty terms
